What does a rug reveal, if you truly read it? In The Soul of a Rug, Mina Abouzahra brings to life the stories woven into every thread. Together with the weavers of the Kasbetaznakhte cooperative, she explores the power of traditional craftsmanship in a modern world.

The exhibition invites visitors to reflect: must traditional crafts evolve to survive, or does their value lie in preserving their original form? Featuring a Virtual Reality experience, the exhibition offers an intimate glimpse into the artistry, rituals, and people behind each rug and into the future of their work.

Mina Abouzahra

Mina Abouzahra is a Dutch-Moroccan interior and furniture designer. Her work blends Moroccan craftsmanship with Dutch design, resulting in vibrant and contemporary creations.

During her studies, she became fascinated by the Amazigh weaving tradition. She spent a year living in Taznakht, immersing herself in the craft and weaving her own rug. Since 2018, she has collaborated with the Kasbetaznakhte cooperative on sustainable and ethical production.

Mina’s work has been featured in various museum collections and has received multiple awards. In The Soul of a Rug, she honors the stories, rituals, and creativity of the women keeping this tradition alive.
