From 7:30 p.m. all the work will be on display at the gallery in Hotel Arena.

Exposition Cunst
The “Cunst” series has a clear theme: cocaine and drugs. The works testify to the observation that there is a lot of drug use in the world and is meant to provoke thought.
By placing the wrappers used on a canvas in an aesthetic way, an attractive image is created. After some reasoning by the viewer, more associations come to the drama and story behind each part of the work.
Be surprised by the diverse perspectives offered by this series, from familiar images of typical Dutch Delftware tiles to beautiful color variations in white. In the Cunst series, as in all Marc Amsterdam’s other series, the play of light and shadow is always central.
Slowly the layering of each work unfolds.
Marc de Vries
Marc Amsterdam is independent artist Marc de Vries (Naarden, 1967).
His work – ranging from timeless, sensual murals to austere, subtly provocative works of art – is open to more than one explanation.
Characteristic of his autonomous, enterprising artistry is that Marc de Vries is always renewing his work. Sometimes from an existing series but also from spontaneous expression. A continuous explosion that began in 1988, sparked by my mother’s colorful clothes.
