CSR Statement
We started 30 years ago as a place to sleep for free spirits, young world travelers and creatives. Always in Amsterdam and always part of the city we call home.
We have grown up a bit now. And although we have largely lost our wild hair, we have always managed to keep our local and international heart for culture. We like to celebrate that with everyone – whether you are a tourist, an Amsterdammer or a business traveler.
Our guests enjoy beautiful and new places in the world. A world that we admire and want to cherish. And as part of the Oosterpark, we at Hotel Arena have a focus on taking good care of our environment. We do everything we can to damage nature and the environment as little as possible.
Both in our hotel, restaurant and during our events. Hotel Arena is a cultural meeting place where we connect our guests with art, culture and design. We are an open place where we offer young talent and established artists a place to exhibit their work to the general public. We support cultural institutions and initiatives with special rates, or free use of our spaces.
Companies with a Green Key quality mark do everything they can to save the environment, without compromising on quality and comfort for guests. That is why we are extremely proud to announce that we are Green Key certified at the highest possible level; Gold! We are aware of our impact on the environment and our surroundings. With every decision we make, we ask ourselves how we can carry this out as responsibly as possible, so that our planet can be preserved for the future. We are always working to implement feasible steps in our daily processes.
To achieve this, we take the following measures, among others:
• We stay up to date with the latest CSR developments.
• Our employees are informed about sustainability.
• We inform our guests and ask them for their contribution. For example, sustainable use of towels and bed linen, but we offer the option to compensate for the CO2 emissions of their trip through our sustainable partners.
• Inform suppliers about how we do corporate social responsibility and we ask and expect their efforts in the field of CSR.
• Continuously improve our own purchasing process, focusing in particular on goods and services that preferably have a recognised quality mark. Examples include: dishwashing detergent, daily cleaning products, shampoo, shower gel, hand soap, printing, tissues, printing paper, regional and organic products.
• We are continuously working on reducing our environmental impact by minimising the consumption of waste, gas, electricity and water.
Examples include:
• optimal waste separation and as little packaging as possible on the buffet
• the entire building is equipped with LED lighting and, where possible, motion sensors
• charging point for electric cars
• economical use of water without compromising comfort
• waste is collected separately, both in public areas and in guest rooms.
Our guests can contribute to this by depositing the waste in the public areas in the designated waste bins. Our employees remove the waste from the hall separately into the paper and cardboard, glass and residual waste streams.
